2010 USDF All-Breed Success!

It is hard to believe that we are wrapping up 2010. It has been a wonderful year for all but especially for a couple of our stallions. Our great friendship and working partnership with the Pierucci’s led to yet another successful show season.

A huge shout out to Pati at Pierucci Dressage for her enduring friendship and extreme dedication to our very special grey boy Espiritu (aka Stu or Stewie). 2010 was Stu and Pati’s first show season and many mile stones were reached. It was just a little over a year ago that Pati took over Stu’s training. It is hard to believe that it was just this spring that they debuted at Morvern Park; Stu’s first USDF show under saddle. Winning their classes at first level their very first time out was pretty exciting. The bar was set high their second time out when they not only won their classes, qualified for BLM’s and GAIG’s but also were open high score for the entire show!  There was barely enough room in the truck for all the loot, prizes and huge ribbons won there. Pati and Stu quickly moved up to second level and had great scores. They finished the year ranked 3rd at first level in the Open Adequan/USDF all-breeds standings. Pati and Stu are looking forward to some warmer weather in Wellington coming up! I think 3rd level is in the near future for this amazing duo.

Not to be outdone by his rival, Saphiro had a very successful show season as well. It was all in the family as Pati’s daughter Hannah took the reins this season. The pair turned heads everywhere they went. Saphiro (affectionately known as Puff by his friends) fell deeply in love with Hannah this year. They started off at training level and quickly earned their qualifying scores for BLM and GAIGs. Puff started late because of his demanding breeding season but in no time at all the 2 were showing (and winning) at first level. This would not be a complete newsletter if we didn’t mention that at one show Puff and Stewie showed in the same class. The Pierucci rivalry was on and Hannah and Puff came through. At the same show they won high score junior/YR with their 72%. Hannah and Saphiro won 4 USDF awards. They were Champion Jr/YR at Training and first level and placed well in both open divisions of these levels too. This fall at the GAIG show, Hannah and Puff debuted at second level with respectable scores. Puff’s flying change in the middle of his counter canter didn’t earn him extra credit with the judges but was charming nonetheless. Perhaps he was letting us know his opinion of the lower levels and his desire to move up? Perhaps.

Young Horse Raising

JCA has a few open spaces for young horse raising. Young horses live in a herd environment on our lush fields and are handled throughout the day. They receive excellent individualized care, hands on training and are on a customized nutrition program suitable for their age and individual needs. Young horses in our care are regularly ponied on the trails and worked with in hand through a variety of training obstacles.
